With striped bass and bluefish activity on the increase, area beaches have been producing with dawn and dusk the best of times. That can partially be credited to an influx of sand eels, a small, almost transparent bait fish that travels in schools of millions. Sand eels move into the shallows just before sundown, burrow into the sand where they lay their eggs and then emerge again at first light.
